INFO/WWW-LINKS:
Cystic hydatid disease is a zoonosis caused by ingesting of eggs of dog parasite
Echinococcus granulosus. Hydatid disease is a public health problem in China,
Russia, Alaska, Wales and Japan. In hydatid disease cystic lesions may be
found especially in the lung (causing e.g. dyspnoea, pain and haemoptysis)
or liver (causing jaundice by obstruction, heptomegaly and cholangitis). But
those cysts may occasionally occur in the CNS. Hydatid cysts may be calcified.
